About
My principal research focuses on the use of communication technologies and messaging strategies (tailoring and targeting) to improve health status, health outcomes, and facilitate behavior and social change.
I mainly use and test the Social Marketing framework and the Theory of Planned Behavior. My focus topics are physical activity and diet (for prevention and self-management of diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and overweight), but I have worked with many issues including smoking, alcohol and drug use & addiction, safety, medication compliance, stress, and self-management of several diseases including hemophilia and CHF. Recently, I have begun examining public opinion towards various health policy measures for obesity prevention which complements my focus on individual and society change.
